PF Registration

Employees Provident Fund [EPF] is a scheme under the Employees Provident Funds and Miscellaneous Provisions Act, 1952. It is regulated under the purview of Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) which is one of the World's largest Social Security Organizations in terms of clientele and the volume of financial transactions undertaken. Basically, EPF is normally like a benefit to an employee during the retirement provided by the organization.

PF registration is mandatory for all establishments with 20 or more persons. Some establishments having less than 20 employees would also be required to obtain PF registration. All employee become eligible for a PF right from the commencement of employment and the onus of deduction & payment of PF is with the employer. The 12% rate of PF contribution should be equally divided between the employee and employer. If the establishment houses less than 20 employees, the rate for PF deduction is 10%.

Documents that you need for PF registration:
  • PAN CARD - A scanned copy of your pan card is a must.
  • BANK CHEQUE(S) - You'll need to send a scanned copy of a cancelled cheque.
  • ACTIVITY - The activity of the establishment identified in the List.
  • PREVIOUS ESIC CODE - In cases of previous coverage under ESIC.
  • ADDRESS PROOF - Of establishment as per p.2 of Instruction Sheet. List of branches and addresses with number of employees at each branch
  • CONSENT LETTER - For voluntary coverage with employee details and signatures as well as date of agreement
  • DATE OF SET UP - Of Establishment with proof
  • OWNERSHIP DETAILS - Ownership details and necessary proof
  • MANAGER(S) DETAILS - Including personal details (for factory only)
  • LEASE DETAILS - Start of lease and lessee (s) details
  • LICENSES - Number, date, issuing authority and date of trial production for factories
  • EMPLOYMENT DETAILS - Application date, number of excluded employees & date on which employees crossed 19 or relevant threshold
